I have led teams for many years, some internal and some cross organisational
in a matrix management style.
Internal Teams
These have
included direct reports with their own teams, some of these have been large remote regional teams where communication and
remote leadership skills are essential, as is building and maintaining high levels of trust.
I have experience of turning
around poor performance in teams and dramatically increasing team engagement levels during periods of increasing workload
and driving up quality of outputs.
External Teams
I have
led teams from other organisations to deliver a common purpose or objective, some have included the third sector as well as
commercial suppliers and partner organisations. Working in this environment required significant stakeholder engagement skills
to be deployed.
Training
I have delivered many training
courses, including 1-2-1 sessions for APC candidates as part of their structured training requirements. I have also delivered
group training and workshop sessions on specific topics such as Asset Surveys, DDA Surveys, H&S technical subjects, Asset
Management, Risk Management, Benefits Realisation and similar programme themes.
I have developed training and development
plans for groups of people transitioning into technical roles where they have little, if any, knowledge of the subject matter.
Coaching
I have coached several individuals as they transition
into first time line management roles, or into project and programme management roles. I have also coached individuals as
they become accustomed to management responsibility and accountability.
I have also coached Programme Director's,
Senior Responsible Owner's, Project Director's and Sponsoring Groups in their role and responsibilities
Mentoring
I have mentored several individuals on their career journeys,
and have derived immense satisfaction on watching them develop into higher level roles and as they increase their capabilities.
